The Lagotto possesses a unique double coat of hair—not fur—making them a top choice for those seeking a low-shedding companion. To maintain that beautiful, authentic best coat look, their tight, water-resistant curls require a specific routine:

• Trimming: Regular clips are necessary to prevent the coat from becoming unmanageable.

• Maintenance: I recommend weekly checks for matting and debris, especially behind the ears and under the legs.

• Ear Care: Given their history in the water, check their ears frequently for wax buildup to prevent infections.

Activity, Engagement & Home Life
While the Lagotto isn't "hyper," they are far from being couch potatoes—they thrive on purposeful activity. A mix of daily walks and mental puzzles keeps them balanced. Because they are deeply social, we do not use outdoor kennels here; all of our dogs are integrated into the heart of the family, living right inside our home and sleeping on our sofas.

Training, Versatility & Early Development
These are true "thinking" dogs. Their natural curiosity and intense desire to cooperate make them absolute stars in agility, obedience, and dock diving. Given their world-class olfactory senses, they completely excel in scent work.
To prepare them for the world, I ensure our litters undergo Early Neurological Stimulation (ENS) right in our family room. Introducing them early to controlled environmental stimuli and noises is my secret ingredient to ensuring their natural curiosity translates into a confident, outgoing, and well-mannered adult.
